Yellowstone and Grand Teton closed to all visitors as government shuts down

All national parks, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton are closed to visitors in the wake of a government shutdown that began Tuesday. No visitors will be allowed into the parks on until the shutdown is resolved. Small fire sparked near south entrance to Yellowstone

The Snake Fire was probably sparked by lightning, and was discovered Monday afternoon burning near the South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

Visitors to Yellowstone National Park are advised to check with rangers regarding potential trail and campsite closures around a small fire burning near the park's South Entrance The Snake Fire was discovered shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, burning along the boundary between the Bridger-Teton National Forest and Yellowstone National Park, approximately three miles east of Yellowstone’s South Entrance. Teton Park and Moose-Wilson roads in Grand Teton close for winter season

Grand Teton National Park will close some of its roads to seasonal travel in preparation for winter.

Two roads within Grand Teton National Park close to vehicle traffic for the winter season on Wednesday evening. Vehicle closures include the length of the Teton Park Road between the Taggart Lake parking area and Signal Mountain Lodge parking lot, as well as the Moose-Wilson Road between Granite Canyon and Death Canyon trailheads.
