Grand Teton dorm fire leaves 1 dead, 4 injured

One person died and four others were injured Friday during an early morning fire at the Grand Teton Lodge Company’s Colter Bay employee dormitory in Grand Teton National Park. The fire was limited to a single dorm room, and adjacent rooms sustained smoke damage. Approximately 70 people were evacuated from the two-story dormitory building and all were assessed for injuries and/or smoke inhalation by park emergency medical service providers. Idaho schoolkids treated to Grand Teton visit

Sixty-five fourth graders from Donald Stalker Elementary School of Blackfoot, Idaho got a firsthand and fun-filled introduction to Grand Teton National Park on May 20-22 thanks to the generous support of Grand Teton Lodge Company, an authorized park concessioner. The school children and their parents spent two days and two nights learning about nature and wildlife, while being treated to a full lodging experience at Jackson Lake Lodge, one of the park’s principal concession facilities. Yellowstone and Grand Teton concessioners volunteer to benefit local communities

As summer winds down and crowds begin to thin a little in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, concessioners are working to give back to local communities with projects that benefit people, wildlife and habitat. Xanterra Parks & Resorts, operator of lodges, restaurants and other concessions in Yellowstone Park, recently donated hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need at four Montana school districts near the park.
