Yellowstone, Grand Teton would see boost under proposed budget

Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks could benefit from spending increases in a budget proposal released Monday by President Barack Obama that calls for an additional $432.9 million for the National Park Service in 2016, much of which would be spent to repair facilities and infrastructure in national parks for the 2016 centennial of the Park Service. While the budget proposal is almost certainly dead on arrival in the Republican-controlled Congress, the nation's parks could see some bipartisan support for a plan that would benefit more than 400 Park Service properties spread across the country. Public comments sought on Grand Teton water project

The National Park Service is conducting environmental compliance for proposed improvements to potable water and fire suppression water infrastructure located between the Colter Bay Village and Jackson Lake Lodge areas of Grand Teton National Park. The proposal is available for public review, and comments will be accepted through October 16, 2014. Currently, three wells at Pilgrim Creek provide potable and fire suppression water for the Jackson Lake Lodge and Colter Bay Village developed areas. Continue Reading →

Yellowstone electric power system changes approved

Officials in Yellowstone National Park announced Wednesday that they had received approval from regional supervisors for what they describe as "a plan to improve the reliability, safety and overall service quality" of the parks’s electrical power distribution. Yellowstone seeking public comments on utility service upgrades

The National Park Service is seeking public comment on planned infrastructure upgrades meant to improve the reliability, safety and quality of NorthWestern Energy’s electrical power distribution within Yellowstone National Park. NorthWestern Energy, an investor-owned utility that provides electricity and natural gas in the northwestern United States, has provided electrical power to Yellowstone National Park since the late 1950s using both aerial and buried transmission lines.
