The Moose-Wilson Road in Grand Teton National Park has re-opened after black bear activity on the road has subsided. Through traffic on the scenic road had been halted to allow for bear activity in the area. Grand Teton National Park managers initiated a temporary closure of the road on September 9. The National Park Service is seeking public input on a plan that will guide management of the Moose-Wilson corridor in Grand Teton National Park. Acting Superintendent Kevin Schneider announced today that the Park Service is developing a comprehensive management plan and environmental impact statement for the Moose-Wilson corridor. Persistent and clever beavers in Grand Teton National Park have thwarted recent efforts by wildlife managers to stymie their dam-building work and halt the slow pooling of river water that is threatening a popular scenic road. A section of a popular scenic drive between Grand Teton National Park and Teton Village, Wyo. has been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure after close encounters between wildlife watchers and foraging grizzly bears.
