Fashion, furniture shows from Cody’s ‘art week’ face uncertain future

A long-running showcase for local and regional designers of Western furniture and fashion faces an uncertain future after organizers announced they are stepping away from the program, which they say is costly to produce and has not met expectations for attendance and revenue. The Cody Country Chamber of Commerce announced Friday that the organization would not produce the annual Cody High Style show for fall 2015. Dozens of volunteer local models took to the runway Wednesday for two fashion shows in Cody, Wyo. as part of the Cody High Style design showcase during the town's annual Rendezvous Royale week. Cody celebrates Western art with Rendezvous Royale

Cody's annual celebration of Western art, Rendezvous Royale, wrapped up Saturday with a benefit party for the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. The Center sponsored Cody High Style, an exhibit of Western furniture and other handmade pieces. Friday's Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale featured paintings and sculptures by Western artists, as did a Quick Draw event on Saturday, during which artists were given one hour to create a new work. Local models highlight Western designs during Cody High Style Fashion Show

Each September, top designers and artists from around the country come here to show off their latest and greatest works in an eclectic display of furniture, fashion, paintings, sculptures and more. The Rendezvous Royale is a weeklong celebration of the arts that helps highlight Cody, Wyo. as a cradle of Western design. Volunteers make the week possible, ranging from those who help park cars to dozens of local models who took to the runway Wednesday evening for two fashion shows that featured everything from traditional cowboy boots and hats to couture leathers and feathers.
