Yellowstone south entrance reopens after closure due to wildfire

Authorities have closed the main connector road between the south end of Yellowstone National Park and northern border of Grand Teton National Park after a wildfire that started last month has grown to nearly 7,000 acres. Grand Teton pathways to close during construction

Construction will soon begin on the next phase of Grand Teton National Park’s shared-use pathway system. The new pathway segment (1.25 miles from Moose Junction to Antelope Flats Road) is expected to be completed by late fall 2015 and open for public use in spring 2016. In addition, intermittent closures of the 14.5 miles of existing park pathways will occur through mid-October to allow for application of a sealant material and for safety improvement work. Bears prompt temporary closure of scenic Grand Teton road

A temporary closure of the Moose-Wilson Road in Grand Teton National Park went into effect Wednesday, September 10, at 11 a.m. due to grizzly bear activity both on and near the roadway. In the coming weeks, visitors and local residents may encounter intermittent closures of the Moose-Wilson Road as bears (black and grizzly) seek out the abundant berries on the chokecherry and hawthorn bushes that flank this park road. Moose-Wilson Road in Grand Teton to close Sept. 4 for dust treatment

A brief travel closure on the unpaved section of the Moose-Wilson Road in Grand Teton National Park will be in place for about 28 hours, beginning 4 a.m. Wednesday, September 4. Barring rainy weather or equipment malfunction, the road is scheduled to reopen by 8 a.m. September 5. The temporary closure is scheduled to accommodate dust abatement work. Continue Reading →

Yellowstone road closures planned during 2012 construction projects

Contractors in 2009 resurface part of an 11-mile stretch of road in Yellowstone National Park between the Lewis River Bridge and the park's South Entrance. New construction after Labor Day 2014 will mean fall closures and detours in the park.

Yellowstone road closures are planned in connection with various 2012 construction projects running from July to October, including daytime delays of 30 minutes and nighttime closures at spots in the northern half of Yellowstone National Park. Road and parking lot construction projects in Yellowstone’s Tower Junction and Canyon Village areas are scheduled to begin the first week of July, according to a statement released Monday from the park's public affairs office.
