New construction has begun on a section of the East Entrance road located near Lake Butte Overlook at the northern edge of Yellowstone Lake. Much of the eastbound lane along the section of road at a point known as “Nine Mile,” between Lake Butte Overlook and Sedge Bay, was washed away in May 2011 during heavy spring rains and snowmelt. New 100-foot cell tower proposed near Lake Hotel in Yellowstone Park

The National Park Service is reviewing a proposal by Verizon Wireless to erect a new 100-foot cell phone tower in the Lake area. Service would cover Fishing Bridge, the Lake Hotel and surrounding developed Lake area, according to a statement released by the Yellowstone public affairs office. Although the marina and campground at nearby Bridge Bay are not specifically mentioned in planning documents, a coverage map included with the proposal appears to show signal coverage at Bridge Bay and over much of the northern part of Yellowstone Lake. Yellowstone road closures planned during 2012 construction projects

Yellowstone road closures are planned in connection with various 2012 construction projects running from July to October, including daytime delays of 30 minutes and nighttime closures at spots in the northern half of Yellowstone National Park. Road and parking lot construction projects in Yellowstone’s Tower Junction and Canyon Village areas are scheduled to begin the first week of July, according to a statement released Monday from the park's public affairs office.
