The West, South and East entrances and nearly all roads will be closed to regular vehicle traffic Nov. 1, according to a statement releasded by the park&#8217;s public affairs office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The park annually closes roads at this time of year to prepare them for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/yell\/planyourvisit\/visiting-yellowstone-in-winter.htm\">winter season<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/yell\/planyourvisit\/snowmobiles-snowcoaches.htm\">snowmobile and snowcoach<\/a>\u00a0travel, which will begin Dec. 15.<br><br>Weather permitting, the road from Tower Fall to Canyon Junction (Dunraven Pass) will remain open through Oct. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only roads\u00a0open\u00a0year-round are between the North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana, and the Northeast Entrance in Cooke City\/Silver Gate, Montana (via Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors planning to drive in the park during the fall and winter should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare for changing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/yell\/planyourvisit\/weather.htm\">weather<\/a>\u00a0conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have flexible travel plans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expect limited services. Check\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/yell\/planyourvisit\/operating-dates.htm\">Operating Dates<\/a>\u00a0for details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anticipate possible road closures due to inclement weather and dangerous driving conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check for temporary travel restrictions or closures that can occur at any time without notice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay informed about up-to-date road conditions in Yellowstone:\n<ul>\n<li>Visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/yell\/planyourvisit\/parkroads.htm\">Park Roads<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive Yellowstone road alerts on your mobile phone by texting \u201c82190\u201d to 888-777 (an automatic text reply will confirm receipt and provide instructions).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call\u00a0(307) 344-2117 for a recorded message.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All communities near Yellowstone are open year-round, with local businesses offering a wide range of fall and winter recreation opportunities.
