John Delmar, Sr. was an Army quartermaster stationed in Yellowstone National Park at Mammoth Hot Springs in 1905.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

During the early days of Yellowstone National Park, the U.S. Army was called in to protect bison<\/a> and other wildlife from poachers. Life wasn’t easy \u2014 but it was interesting \u2014 for the soldiers who lived and worked in Yellowstone.<\/p>\n

Dave Crawforth has compiled a Yellowstone history<\/a> slideshow that shows what life was like in\u00a01905 when John Delmar, Sr. was an Army quartermaster stationed at Mammoth Hot Springs. It shows the people, buildings and wildlife of the time, and includes a look at the railroad depot at Gardiner, Mont. and the newly installed electric lights around Mammoth.<\/p>\n
