Members of the public are invited to join local dignitaries in taking a celebratory ride next week on the recently completed second phase of the multipurpose pathway near Moose, Wyo. in Grand Teton National Park.<\/p>\n

The special community event Thursday, Aug. 9 will help publicize a federal initiative called America\u2019s Great Outdoors, and mark the completion earlier this year of the park\u2019s pathway segment that links up with a Jackson Hole Community Pathway leg originating in Jackson, Wyo.<\/p>\n

Among the speakers scheduled to appear are: Grand Teton Superintendent Mary Gibson Scott, Jackson Mayor Mark Barron, Teton County Commissioners Hank Phibbs and Paul Vogelheim as well as representatives from the Transportation and Interior departments.<\/p>\n

Following the remarks, participants will take a short ride or walk along the new pathway from park headquarters to the Sleeping Indian turnout on Highway 26\/89\/191. The family-friendly event is open to all.<\/p>\n

The America\u2019s Great Outdoors initiative was launched in 2010 to develop a modern approach to conservation with a recreation emphasis. Cabinet heads from several federal departments worked to develop a broad outreach program, with Interior Secretary Ken Salazar selecting Grand Teton National Park’s pathway project as among those that met the initiative’s goals.<\/p>\n
