The Yellowstone Ecosystem Subcommittee (YES) of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) will hold its fall meeting in Bozeman, Mont. Nov. 6-7 and invites the public to attend.<\/p>\n
The agencies that help manage grizzly bear recovery will present their annual conflict reports, according to a statement released by the committee. The status of the ecosystem population will also be presented. Wildlife managers say that currently the Yellowstone grizzly population remains “healthy and robust,” with 58 different females with cubs seen across the ecosystem in 2013.\u00a0 This is the highest number of females with cubs ever reported in the Yellowstone ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The meeting will take place in the Larkspur Room of the Hilton Garden Inn, located in Bozeman, Montana. The Hilton Garden Inn is situated at 2023 Commerce Way. The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, and end at 5:00 p.m. Proceedings will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, and conclude by noon. The public is welcome to attend all sessions and time for public comments will be included at the end of each day.<\/p>\n
The Yellowstone ecosystem grizzly bear recovery area includes all of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, as well as portions of northwest Wyoming, eastern Idaho, and southwest Montana. Other federal lands include the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forests (NF), The Bridger-Teton NF, Caribou-Targhee NF, and the Custer, Gallatin and Shoshone National Forests.<\/p>\n
A multiagency organization charged with recovery of the grizzly in the Yellowstone ecosystem, YES is part of the IGBC, which is responsible for grizzly bear recovery in the contiguous United States and adjoining Canadian Provinces.\u00a0 YES is made up of federal, state, county, and tribal agency partners.<\/p>\n
