A<\/b>bstract submissions for the 12th Biennial Scientific Conference on the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem will be accepted April 4, 2014 to June 4, 2014.<\/p>\n
This year’s conference theme is \u201cCrossing Boundaries in Science, Management, and Conservation\u201d focusing on the challenges and opportunities posed by crossing environmental, disciplinary, and jurisdictional boundaries in the quest to achieve one greater Yellowstone ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The conference will be held October 6 \u2013 8, 2014 in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming, according to a statement released by the park’s public affairs office.<\/p>\n
The conference will bring together scientists, managers and other decision makers to examine resource challenges throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) from a variety of perspectives. The goals are to exchange science-based information relevant to management and to identify resource challenges that demand new research.<\/p>\n
The program committee consists of representatives throughout the GYE from: Yellowstone National Park; Montana State University; University of Wyoming; National Park Service (NPS)-Great Northern Landscape Conservation Cooperative; Gallatin National Forest, US Geological Survey-Rocky Mountain Research Station; Wildlife Conservation Society; University of Montana; NPS-Greater Yellowstone Inventory and Monitoring Network; Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee; Idaho Fish and Game; Grand Teton National Park; Wyoming Game and Fish; and Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.<\/p>\n
The conference series, initiated in 1991, encourages awareness and application of wide-ranging, high-caliber scientific work on the region’s natural and cultural resources. It provides a forum for knowledge sharing among hundreds of researchers, park managers, and the general public.<\/p>\n
Conference registration will begin in early June.<\/p>\n
