An 8-year-old girl died Sunday morning after falling into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a popular attraction in Yellowstone National Park. A Michigan man died Sunday after suffering a heart attack during a hike in Grand Teton National Park in just one of several incidents that kept emergency personnel busy throughout the park. A 74-year-old man visiting the park from Troy, Mich. was on a ranger-led hike at Swan Lake near Colter Bay when he was stricken with a heart attack at about 2:15 p.m., according to a statement released Monday by the park's public affairs office. A backcountry skier died Friday in Grand Teton National Park during an avalanche in the Teton Range. Jarad Spackman, 40, of Jackson, Wyo., was killed while ascending Apocalypse Couloir near the mouth of Death Canyon. Two people were killed in separate avalanches over the weekend, according to information released by the Bridger-Teton National Forecast Avalanche Center. Two backcountry skiers in separate areas were killed Sunday after being caught in small avalanches, the center reported Monday. The center issued an advisory bulletin for areas of Teton, Lincoln and Sublette Counties in Wyoming and for the Teton Area, Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass Area and the Southwest Trails Greys River Area. Yellowstone motorcyclist killed in head-on collision with SUV

A motorcyclist was killed late Tuesday afternoon after a head-on collision with a sport utility vehicle in Yellowstone National Park, and another was hospitalized. James Michael Cody of Wright, Wyo., was killed after striking a sport utility vehicle that had crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, according to a statement released Thursday by the Yellowstone public affairs office. Man dies, two others injured in separate Yellowstone incidents on day of ‘visitor mayhem’

In a day that a Yellowstone Park spokesman described as one of "visitor mayhem," emergency responders dealt with at least three serious injuries, including one that left a man dead from an injury after being thrown from a horse. Carl Dullmaier, 56, of Gernsheim, Germany, sustained a head injury when he was thrown from a horse near Tower Junction. Climber dies after falling 1,000 feet in descent from Middle Teton summit

A mountain climber in Grand Teton National Park fell 1,000 feet to his death Sunday while descending from the summit of the Middle Teton. Justin Harold Beldin, 27 of Benicia, Calif., and two climbing partners had reached the summit of the the 12,804-foot peak and were beginning to descend at about noon when the accident occurred, according to information released Monday by the Grand Teton public affairs office.
