Yellowstone visitation sets record for October

It was another record visitation month for Yellowstone National Park in October. A total of 194,804 recreational visitors came to Yellowstone last month, surpassing the previous October record of 189,072 set in 2010. The dramatic year-to-year difference in visitation figures between October 2014 and October 2013 reflects the 16 day park closure due to last October’s federal government shutdown. Yellowstone sets visitation record for September

Yellowstone National Park recorded its highest ever September visitation in 2014. A total of 571,764 recreational visitors came to Yellowstone in September. That is an increase of 2.48% compared to September 2013 numbers. Yellowstone visitation up 6 percent over 2013

Visitation to Yellowstone National Park for the first eight months of the year has hit the 2.7 million mark. With four months left in the calendar year, Yellowstone is on track to have one of its highest visitation years on record. A total of 773,357 recreational visitors came to Yellowstone in August, an increase of 6.65 % compared to August 2013 numbers. Yellowstone visitation up slightly so far in 2014

Visitation to Yellowstone National Park for the month of May and for the first five months of 2014 overall is up almost six percent compared to the previous year. Visitation to the world’s first national park begins to pick up in May as weather improves and interior roads and visitor facilities begin to open to the public. Success of winter season varies by park gate counts

Even as they look forward to the coming summer season for Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, tourism leaders and businesses are also reflecting on visitation numbers for the recently concluded winter season. Depending on how visitors are counted, the trend for 2013 shows what is probably a slight increase in visitation to Yellowstone National Park over last year. Yellowstone visitation tops 1 million by end of June

The latest Yellowstone National Park visitation figures show that more than 1 million recreational visitors have passed through the park during the first half of the year, with the park's busiest season just getting under way. Year-to-date Yellowstone and Grand Teton visitation up slightly through August

Despite a stubbornly high national unemployment rate and weak economy, visitation so far this year to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks has increased slightly over 2011, with the summer travel season ending on a relatively high note for the regional tourism industry. Though recreational visits in Yellowstone National Park were down 3.1 percent in August compared to last year, year-to-date visits were up 2.1 percent for 2012 through August. Year-to-date visits through August were up 4.5 percent in Grand Teton National Park compared to 2011, according to figures available on the National Park Service website. Continue Reading →

Yellowstone visitation neared 3.4 million in 2011, second-highest year on record

The National Park Service reports that nearly 3.4 million people visited Yellowstone National Park in 2011, making it the fifth consecutive year to see more than 3 million visitors. Overall visitation to Yellowstone for 2011 was 3,394,321. That figure is down 6.8 percent from the record 3,640,184 people who visited the park in 2010, making 2011 the second-highest visitation year on record. Continue Reading →
