Yellowstone road at Craig Pass opens Thursday

Auto travel will resume June 11 across Isa Lake atop Craig Pass, between West Thumb and Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park.

Yellowstone National Park visitors will be able to travel between West Thumb Junction and Old Faithful when the last stretch of park road over Craig Pass opens for the season at 7 a.m. Thursday. Savvy regulars, eager locals cherish Yellowstone spring

For the faithful and fanatical few early visitors to Yellowstone National Park arriving from Cody last week, Friday seemed more like a breezy summer day than the first chance to enter the park by car after another long winter. But it appears there wasn't quite enough winter overall in the park this year, as snowpack was at just a fraction of its usual levels throughout the wide valleys and high mountains that are home to headwaters for much of the surrounding region. Grand Teton riverbank restoration project moves forward

Grand Teton National Park is moving forward with a riverbank restoration project to remove approximately 13 tons of old angle iron beams from the Buffalo Fork of the Snake River. Motorists traveling Highway 26/287 past Moran Junction may see heavy equipment along the riverbank as this restoration project continues. Grand Teton closes Jenny Lake trails during construction

Starting Monday, October 27, a temporary area closure will be in effect for several trails within the Jenny Lake area of Grand Teton National Park. Park officials say the temporary public closures are necessary to ensure public safety during construction activities involving helicopter-assisted transport of heavy material to trail locations on the west side of Jenny Lake. The public closure will last from October 27 through October 30, and possibly longer, according to a statement released by the park's public affairs office. Continue Reading →

Schwabacher Landing Road reopens in Grand Teton

The Schwabacher Landing Road and parking area in Grand Teton National Park will open to public access on Thursday, June 19. A paving project on the upper portion of Schwabacher Road just west of Highway 26/89/191 (Hwy 89) has been completed, allowing for this popular park location to open for the summer season. An overlay road project will be underway on 10.5 miles of Hwy 89 between Craighead Hill, about two miles north of Moose Junction, and Cunningham Cabin that lies north of Triangle X Ranch. Some roads in Yellowstone to open Friday

For the first time since fall, visitors to Yellowstone National Park will be able to drive to see Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone starting Friday morning, April 18. The roads from West Yellowstone, Mont. and Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyo. to these popular visitor destinations open for the season at 8:00 a.m. Additionally, park entrance fees will be waived April 19 and 20 to kick off National Park Week. Park Service approves plan for 100-foot cell tower near Lake Hotel in Yellowstone

The National Park Service has given final approval for a plan by Verizon Wireless to build a new 100-foot cell tower to serve the Fishing Bridge and Lake Village developed areas in Yellowstone National Park. A permit clearing the way for construction of the new cell tower was recently approved by John Wessels, the Director of the Intermountain Region of the National Park Service, according to a statement released Tuesday by the National Park Service.
