A fresh layer of snow and colder temperatures have put winter activities in full swing in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, with a wide range of travel and recreation options available. Visitors to Yellowstone National Park can travel the park’s interior roads on commercially guided snowmobiles and snowcoaches from the North, West, and South Entrances. Visitors who have proper permits can also participate in the Non-commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program. Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the main concessioner operating lodging, restaurants and activities in Yellowstone National Park, will begin offering a winter shuttle service from the Bozeman, Mont. airport to Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. Yellowstone extends public comment period on winter use

Yellowstone National Park officials announced last week that the upcoming 2012-13 winter season in the park would follow an extension of existing rules used the previous year for managing snowmobiles and snow coach travel.
